February 26, 2017 | Mark 6:7-13: When Disciples Become Ambassadors

Here is the sermon from Sunday morning taken from Mark 6:7-13.
And He *summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits; and He instructed them that they should take nothing for their journey, except a mere staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belt— but to wear sandals; and He added, “Do not put on two tunics.” 10 And He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave town. 11 Any place that does not receive you or listen to you, as you go out from there, shake the dust off the soles of your feet for a testimony against them.” 12 They went out and preached that men should repent. 13 And they were casting out many demons and were anointing with oil many sick people and healing them.

Worship Minimovie: Send Salt Lake City

Going forward, our church will be partnering with church planters and missionaries in Utah. The need in Utah is great as only 2% of the population has a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Worship Minimovie: Risking It All

We are currently taking up our annual Lottie Moon Christmas offering which goes to support the work of foreign missionaries. We encourage you to give sacrificially as we continue to seek to reach people around the world with the good news of Jesus.

Annie Armstrong Easter Offering: Travis Kerns

We are in the middle of our annual Annie Armstrong East Offering which goes to support our Southern Baptists (also known as Great Commission Baptists) missionaries throughout North America. For an idea of what some of our missionaries do, the North American Mission Board (NAMB) has put together the following video featuring missionary Travis Kerns who serves in Salt Lake City, Utah.

As a personal note, Travis was a grader of mine at Boyce College. As such, if you come to my office you will find the NAMB prayer post card hanging on my billboard which allows me to specifically pray for him, his wife, and the work he is doing there. I ask that you will join me in praying for him and all of our North American missionaries.
